LATEST NEWS!!!:
We are thrilled to announce that we completed the walk on Friday 20th!
It was a fantastic team effort, we managed to collect even more donations on the day, thank you everyone! We even dodged the awful thunderstorm at lunchtime, luckily by that time we were in Reading Town Centre, so we were able to take shelter for about 20 minutes until the storm moved on. We also had a brief pit-stop at the Royal Berkshire Hospital, it was great to see the Royal Berks Charity team come out to cheer us on. Thank you to everyone who encouraged and supported us before and during our walk. Donations are still coming in, we have now broken the £3,000 barrier, a wonderful total, thank you all so much. Best wishes from the whole team 😊
Our Story:
We, the Finance and IT team at Reading Transport Limited (incorporating Reading Buses, Thames Valley Buses and Newbury & District) are thrilled to announce that we will be walking the full length, end-to-end, of our Purple Route 17 on the 20th September 2024 to raise funds for the Royal Berks Charity. As employees and dedicated charity champions for the Royal Berks Charity, this cause is deeply meaningful to us, and we are committed to making a significant impact in our community.
Why We’re Walking:
The Royal Berks Charity provides ongoing support to our incredible NHS Hospitals and staff who care for thousands of patients and their families every year. By participating in this walk, we aim to contribute to their ongoing efforts and help ensure that they can continue to make a difference.
We are Celebrating 20 Years of Colour Bus Routes:
This year marks the 20th anniversary of Reading Buses' iconic colour coded routes, and so the route chosen for the sponsored walk is the first route that was branded - Purple 17. This route holds a special place in our hearts, symbolising decades of service, connection, and community spirit.
Our Goal:
We have set an ambitious fundraising target of £2024. Every donation, no matter how small, will bring us closer to achieving this goal and supporting the incredible work of the Royal Berks Charity. Your contribution will help fund initiatives that provide state-of-the-art equipment, research, improvements to the patient environment and staff training. Your generosity will directly impact the lives of those in need, providing them with hope and resources to overcome their challenges.
